We were commissioned to develop a five month Design and Prototyping programme in partnership with an education consultant. Free to all participating schools.
Working with 24 teams of KS3 students across London, we delivered 72 unique design sessions with industry professionals.
Complete with video tours and machining content shot in our workshop – and laboratory and workshop video tours via friends in our network working across materials, engineering, science and tech.
Real world experience for 12–13 year olds.
The programme challenged students to design a solution to the climate emergency, to design with waste streams, or to address social isolation through design.
Each live session was outcome-led and customised to support each team’s unique design idea.
Depending on that idea, we gave teams the option to choose a physical or digital skills pathway. And they worked 1:1 with us to develop their concepts, gaining real-world experience of either physical prototyping or UX design.
Along with sessions delivered online from our team and in the workshop, we sent bespoke kits to each school along with making resources.
And our team prototyped all 24 of their final designs and delivered them to schools, as students could not visit our the workshop in person.
Initially the programme was due to be delivered in person. Redesigned and adapted for an online delivery due to lockdown.
